William Paul “Billy Paul” Smith

William Paul “Billy Paul” Smith , 82, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Thursday, June 18th, at Signature Health Care of Glasgow.

Billy Paul was born in Glasgow, KY on February 1, 1938, a son of the late Kate (Pitcock) and William Duncan Smith.

Billy Paul was united in marriage to Betty (Welch) Smith on December 22, 1962 at Tompkinsville First Baptist Church.

He graduated from Tompkinsville High School in 1954 and then went to Bowling Green Teacher College. He served in the National Guard for 27 years. Billy Paul was a member of Tompkinsville First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for 50 years. He worked at SKF in Glasgow for 30 years.

Billy Paul is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James Taylor and Treva Smith, of Scottsville, KY; eight grandchildren, Billy John Smith, and wife, Kara, Garrett Smith, and wife, Megan, Elizabeth Smith, Kelby Smith, Brooks Smith, Amber Smith, Andy Woods and Amanda Chapman, and husband Nick, six great grandchildren also survive.

Billy Paul is also survived by a sister, Karen Young, and husband, David, of Scottsville, KY and a brother, George Smith, of Florida.

Other than his wife and parents he is preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Billy Earl and Lisa Smith, and sister-in-law, Mary Smith.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, June 25th at Yokley Trible Funeral Home. Visitation is Thursday after 8:00 A.M. until service time at 3:00 P.M.

Private entombment will be in Monroe County Memorial Lawn Mausoleum.
