FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The number of positive coronavirus tests in Kentucky has increased again, driving the total number of cases in the state over 30,000, but Gov. Andy Beshear said the percentage of tests coming back positive declined again. Beshear says the closely watched “positivity rate” fell for a third straight day Friday to 5.43%.

Beshear says there are still too many cases, and the number of intensive care unit patients is also increasing. There were 778 new cases reported Friday, up from 659 on Thursday.

Four new deaths were reported Friday, bringing the total number of Kentuckians who have died from the virus to 735.
