Mary Arterburn, 88, formerly of Scottsville, KY passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Hopkins Nursing & Rehab. The Holland, KY native was a homemaker, a former cafeteria worker at James E. Bazzell Middle School, a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a former Sunday school teacher and Meador Homemakers. She was a daughter of the late Robert Franklin Downing and Lucy Kathryn Downing and wife of the late Wallace W. Arterburn.
She is survived by 3 sons: Phillip Arterburn and wife, Brenda; Michael Arterburn and wife, Debbie and Dennis Arterburn and wife, Martha, all of Scottsville, KY; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 1 daughter: Rosemary Arterburn; 1 brother: Robert H. “Bud” Downing and 3 sisters: Jimmie Seay Downing Gibbs, Mabel “Tade” Downing Dobbs and Weldon Downing.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Kelvin Copas and Bro. Tyler Arterburn officiating and burial in New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 7:00 A.M. Friday until funeral time at Goad Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to New Hope Cemetery or Gideons. Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home. According to the Kentucky Funeral Directors Association, social distancing and face mask are recommended and no PUBLIC lounge is available
