Mr. James E. Long, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky having attained the age of 84 years, 2 months and 26 days. He was born on Tuesday, May 26, 1936 in Cumberland County, Kentucky, the son of Stanley and Sylvia (Davidson) Long. He was a Christian of the Church Of Christ Faith, a member of the Hickory Grove Church Of Christ, a local business owner for fifty seven years operating Longs Auto Sales. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sons, Gary Long, Charlie Grider, Mother-In-Law, Alma Short, sister and brother, Ivalee and Big Joe Hurt, Brothers-In-Law, Arnie Hogan, Harold “Squak” Jones, Arnold Spears, Aunt and Uncle Goldie and John Long, Niece, Gail Williams. He is survived by his wife Willie Mae (Short) Long whom he wed on April 7, 1955 of Burkesville, Kentucky, Children, Jimmy (and Linda) Long of Burkesville, Kentucky, Shelia Long Grider of Burkesville, Kentucky, Sisters, Helen (Charles) Steele of Indianapolis, Indiana, Betty Hogan of Burkesville, Kentucky, Hazel Jones of Burkesville, Kentucky, Grandchildren, Lindsey (and Jeff) Huff, Jessica Grider, Wesley (and Whitney) Long, Great-Grandchildren, Braxton Long, Hudson Long, Henley Huff, Bella Grider, Sarah Faith Huff, Joseph Grider, Cousins, David Long, Kaylee Long, Sandra “Little Woman” Huddleston, Nephews, Donnie (and Bernice) Jones, Doug (and Lana) Hogan, Niece, Charlotte Whitson, several other relatives and many friends. The Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. C.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Watson officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. The family will receive friends after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville until the funeral hour on Wednesday.
