John Robert Barbour, age 73, of Glasgow, died Monday, October 4, 2021 at the U of L Hospital. The son of the late John Raymond Barbour and the late Bertha Christine (Gramlin) Barbour, he was born in Glasgow on April 5, 1948. John was a machinist at Dart Container and a member of Hillvue Heights.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen Barbour; one daughter, Jennifer Barbour; one son, Derek Saltsman (Katara); grandchildren, April Huff (Randall Condon), Jenny Huff (John Jewell), John Barbour “Buddy”, Kennedy Saltsman, Graysen Reynolds, and Haidyn Saltsman; two sisters, Etta Gossett and Gail McCandless; great grandchildren, Bethany Condon, Randall Condon, Caleb Condon, James Condon, Candler Barbour, Hunter Jewell, and J.J. Jewell; several nieces and nephews as well as his furry friend Axl also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bea Green and a granddaughter, Teresa Huff.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 PM, Friday, October 8th, at Calvary Baptist Church. Visitation will be 12:00 PM until time for the services at the church. The family has chosen cremation.
