BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Oct. 29, 2021) – The expected traffic impacts in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 area for October 29 through November 5 are listed below. All work is subject to change.
Interstate 165
- U.S. 231 Exit 7 – The project to reconstruct the interchange continues. Motorists are driving on the new configuration and the old ramps are being removed. The permanent ramps are now open. Construction is still ongoing and motorists should expect lane closures in the area. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
- U.S. 231 Exit 33 – The project to reconstruct the Exit 33 interchange continues. The interchange is being reconstructed to a diamond interchange and the old cloverleaf ramps are being removed. Lane closures on I-165 and U.S. 231 are possible throughout the project. The new ramps are expected to be open in the summer of 2022.
Allen County
- KY 100 West (mile point 0.0 – 8.8) – A Highway Safety Improvement Project along KY 100 continues that includes super-elevation improvements, resurfacing, improvements to drainage structures, roadside slopes, shoulders and ditches. Contractor will have multiple flagging operations along the route so expect delays. The project is expected to be completed by the middle of November.
- KY 1421 (mile point 0.0 – 3.4) – A resurfacing project that includes culvert replacements and pavement repair work along KY 1421 continues. Motorists should expect flaggers along the route. The project is expected to be completed next week.
- KY 2160 (mile point 5 – 7) – A resurfacing project that includes culvert replacements and pavement repair work along KY 2160 continues. Motorists should expect flaggers along the route. The project is expected to be completed in late November.
Barren County
- KY 63 Tompkinsville Road (mile point 6.3 – 13.2) – A safety enhancement project continues on Tompkinsville Road from Happy Hollow Road then extending north to the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway overpass. This project improves roadside features, extend roadway culverts and realign the reverse curves between Fox Trail and the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway. The section between Fox Trail and the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway is closed to through traffic. A signed detour is in place along Siloam Road, KY 90, and Lenna Drive. This closure is expected to remain in place until mid November.
- KY 740 Coral Hill Road (mile point 0.0 to 7.5) – A pavement repair and resurfacing project has started on Coral Hill Road beginning from U.S. 68 and extending north to KY 70. Crews will begin with pavement repairs and pipe replacements. The roadway will be resurfaced when the repair portion of the project is finished. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
- KY 314 Center Road (mile point 0.0 – 2.3) – A resurfacing project continues on KY 314 Center Road beginning from KY 70 and extending north to the Metcalfe County line. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
- KY 1318 Tobacco Road (mile point 6.4 – 7.8) – A resurfacing project continues on KY 1318 Tobacco Road beginning from Matthews Mill Road and extending east to Oil Well Road. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
- U.S. 68 Edmonton Road (mile point 15.9 – 16.9) – A resurfacing project continues on Edmonton Road beginning from KY 740 and extending east to Lecta Salem Road. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
- KY 2207 South Fork Road (mile point 0.0 – 3.4) – Crews are expected to begin applying pavement crack sealing to South Fork Road in preparation for a resurfacing project next summer. The project will begin at the intersection of KY 252 and extend to Bayles Road. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
- KY 1307 New Salem Road (mile point 4.0 – 8.6) – Crews are expected to begin applying pavement crack sealing to New Salem Road in preparation for a resurfacing project next summer. The project will begin at the intersection Hollis Thomas Road extending north to U.S. 68. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
Butler County
- KY 269 (mile point 1.5 – 6.0) – A project to improve drainage and road safety in this section is expected to start. A contractor will be working on ditching, shouldering, culvert replacements and embankment areas to improve drop offs. Motorists should expect flaggers and lane closers in this section. The project is expected to be completed by the end of November.
Edmonson County
- KY 728 Nolin Dam Road (mile point 3.3) – A slide repair project continues on Nolin Dam Road east of Math Minton Road. Once the slide repairs have been made, crews will repair the damaged asphalt pavement. Motorists should expect shoulder closures and occasional flagging as equipment work near the traveled way.
- KY 238 Sunfish Bee Spring Road (mile point 9.3 and 9.9) – A slide repair project that temporarily closed a section of KY 238 has reopened to traffic. The section of highway between the two slide repair locations will be resurfaced as a part of this project. The project is expected to be completed in November.
Metcalfe County
- KY 218 Crail Hope Road (mile point 0.0 to 3.5) – A pavement repair and resurfacing project that closed a section of Crail Hope Road in Metcalfe County has reopened to traffic. The work is part of a resurfacing project beginning from the Hart/Metcalfe County line and extending east to the Metcalfe/Green County line. Motorists should expect flaggers to be present through the work zone.
- U.S. 68 West Stockton Street (mile point 6.2 – 8.6) – A resurfacing project will continue on West Stockton Street beginning from KY 3234 and extending east to KY 163. Motorists should expect lane closures and flaggers to be present through the work zone. The section from KY 861 to the square has been reconfigured from four lanes to three lanes.
Monroe County
- KY 63 (mile point 9 to 11.5) – Crews will be working on a resurfacing project that includes sidewalk ramp replacements, pavement failure repairs, asphalt milling and asphalt paving. Motorists should expect lane closures and flaggers. Project completion is expected by the middle of November.
- KY 1366 County House Road (mile point 4.765 to 5.700) – New Guardrail installation project will start this week. Project will be multiple locations between G Turner Road and County Farm Road on KY 1366. Flaggers and lane closures should be expected. Project is expected to be completed within the week weather dependent.
- KY 163 Edmonton Road (mile point 12.594 to 12.855) – A turn lane project with resurfacing for Joe Harrison Carter Elementary will start toward the end of the week and continuing into the following week. There will be a striping change of the roadway and lane widths to accommodate a northbound right turn lane into Joe Harrison Carter Elementary schools first entrance. The project is expected to take a week and crews can only work between 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Simpson County
- KY 383 West Madison Street (mile point 8.2 – 9.5) – A project to resurface the roadway in this section is expected to start next week. The project will begin milling operations between J Johnson Avenue to U.S. 31-W toward end of the week into next week weather dependent. The project will have sidewalk ramp work as well at various intersections. Crews and flaggers will be in the roadway at times. Expect lane closures and delays. The Project is expected to be completed by end of November.
Warren County
- KY 263 (mile point 10.2 – 14.4) – A project to repave this section of road is expected to begin. Motorists should expect lane closures from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The project is expected to be completed by the end of November.
- KY 240 (mile point 12.8 – 18.7) – An asphalt resurfacing project continues. Motorists can expect lane closures and delays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The project should be completed by the end of November.
- U.S. 68 Russellville Road (mile point 6 – 8) – A project to resurface U.S. 68 Russellville Road is wrapping up. Crews will be working on reflectors, rumble strips and striping. The project is expected to be complete by November 15.
- U.S. 68 Veterans Memorial (mile point 12.6 – 15.2) – The project to resurface this section of U.S. 68 continues. The paving portion of this project is complete and crews will be working on striping.
- U.S. 68 Glasgow Road (mile point 20 – 28) – A Highway Safety Improvement Project has started between the I-65 overpass to the Barren County line. There are five spots along with corridor that will have shoulder improvements and slope improvements to improve safety in this section. Lane closures can be expected between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in this section. The project is expected to be complete before the end of the year.
- U.S. 231 Scottsville Road (mile point 3 – 6) – A Highway Safety Improvement Project to address multiple intersections on U.S. 231 Scottsville Road in the Alvaton corridor continues. Some intersections will be reconstructed as Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) intersections. Other intersections will see restricted left improvements. Lane closures and reduced speed limit to 55 mph is in place. Current project phase is working in the median of the roadway. Left lane and shoulder closures are in place for the next few weeks. Right shoulder closures are in place sporadically until the end of the project. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
