GLASGOW, Ky. — Another candidate has filed his name to run for Barren County Jailer.

Cody Huff announced his intent to be on the Democratic ticket in the upcoming primary election in May 2022. He made the announcement at the Barren County fiscal court chambers, according to a news release.

Huff, a former Barren County Detention Center deputy jailer, said he worked “under an excellent administration.” The candidate described his goals if elected to the office.

“My goal for the Detention Center is to bring the jail back to a state of self sufficiency, which in turn would ease the strain on the county taxpayers and overall county budget,” according to a news release from Huff.

Huff described his intent to strengthen community outreach. He also described his beliefs about the current administration led by Jailer Aaron Bennett.

“I plan to create a more secure controlled environment to further protect the jail and county population, create a better community outreach, and strengthen the bond and mend bridges between the jail and other county departments that have been compromised by the current administration,” Huff said.

Huff is married to Autumn Kuhns Huff. The couple has three children.

The filing deadline for political office in Kentucky is Jan. 7, 2022, at 4 p.m.
