Light Up Glasgow slated for Friday evening

By Mark Buckles Nov 25, 2021 | 4:00 PM

GLASGOW, Ky. — Light Up Glasgow, the community’s annual Christmas kickoff, is slated for Friday evening.

The event is hosted by Renaissance Glasgow. The annual lighting of the community Christmas tree and the holiday season kickoff is slated to take place downtown.

“Glasgow Renaissance’s program Light Up Glasgow is always the perfect kickoff to the holiday season here in Barren County,” said MacLean Lessenberry, executive director of the Barren County Tourism Commission.

Not only will the excitement of the holiday season fill the air, but Santa Claus will be there, too. The group urges attendees to bring cameras and have their picture made with him.

Lights and Christmas-themed music will be provided, according to a flyer.

Lessenberry said the event serves as a good preface to Small Business Saturday, which is Nov. 27.

“We are always especially thankful that it falls the day before Small Business Saturday, getting shoppers, citizens and tourists into the holiday spirit,” Lessenberry said, “And ready to kick it off the next morning with shopping and supporting all of our local stores.”

Light Up Glasgow begins at 5 p.m. in the courthouse lawn.
