GLASGOW — It’s the last week to file for Glasgow City Council, among other offices, and only six of nine seats have a candidate.

The Glasgow City Council comprises nine seats. Those seats are not specific to geographic areas of the city.

Six people had filed as of Tuesday morning at the Barren County Clerk’s Office. The filing deadline is Friday, Jan. 7 at 4 p.m.

Incumbents James “Happy” Neal, Terry L. Bunnell, Marna Kirkpatrick, Chasity Lowery, Patrick Gaunce refiled. The lone newcomer is Libby P. Short.

Short was a member of the Glasgow Electric Plant Board but has since resigned her seat to run for council. She was appointed by Glasgow Mayor Harold Armstrong.

The other incumbents who’ve not refiled include Joe Trigg, Wendell Honeycutt, Freddie Norris and Marlin Witcher.

The lone mayor candidate in Glasgow is Henry G. Royse II.

Those wishing to file must do so at the Barren County Clerk’s Office. For more information, contact the office at (270) 651-3783.
