GLASGOW — A host of candidates filed for local political offices at the turn of the New Year.
The Kentucky General Assembly convened Tuesday, and a bill to extend the filing deadline for office is on the table. The Senate votes Thursday on the measure. The House passed the bill Wednesday.
The latest filings in Barren County include a few Glasgow City Council and additional Barren County magistrate candidates.

County Officers
These offices are elected every four years along with all county officers. There are seven constable districts to align with the magisterial districts.
Barren County Judge Executive
Jamie B. Byrd (R) and Micheal Hale (D), the incumbent, have filed.
Barren County Magistrates
Barren County has seven magisterial districts. The office is elected every four years. No incumbents have filed.
- District 2 — Kim Lambert (R), Derek Scott Pedigo (R) and Jesse Muse (R). The incumbent is Trent Riddle (D).
- District 3 — Tim Durham (R)
- District 4 — Chris Eaton (D). The incumbent is Tim Coomer (R)
- District 5 — Jason Simmons (R), Jackie Perkins (R), Troy A. Robertson (R) and Benjamin S. Nuckols (D).
- District 6 — Ronnie Stinson (D)
- District 7 — Matt Keith (R), Paul Furlong (R) and Brad Groce (D)
