EDMONTON — Three people were involved in an arson that took place earlier in December in Metcalfe County.

A deputy with the Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office responded Dec. 18 and extinguished the fire before it consumed a lot of the building. The arson occurred at Metcalfe County Lake and Park.

Multiple units with fire departments in the county responded to another fire Dec. 23 at the park. A fire consumed an entire structure at the park, and the fire was deemed to be an arson.

The Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office gathered information and determined suspects. Arrest warrants were issued Jan. 8 for two juveniles and 21-year-old Travis W. Rowe.

Rowe was lodged at the Barren County Detention Center on charges of second degree arson, second degree arson (attempt) and first degree criminal mischief.

The juvenile female and male were lodged at a juvenile detention facility. They face the same charges.

A motive was not described in a news release from the MCSO.

The Kentucky State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted in the investigation.
