Carlie “Jr” Monday

Carlie B. Monday, Jr., 75, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Saturday, May 14th, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green surrounded by his loved ones.

Jr was born in the Elbow Community of Monroe County, KY,  on September 8, 1946, a son of the late Oval (Bryant) Monday and Carlie B. Monday, Sr.

Jr married Shirley Temple Gearlds Monday on July 2, 1963.

He owned and operated Jr’s Plumbing Supply for 38½ years with his family. He was a Plumber, Electrician and HVAC technician and of the Mormon Faith. He loved gardening, helping others, playing cards, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Other than his wife, Shirley Monday, Jr is  survived by a daughter, Tammy  Monday, of Bowling Green, KY;  two sons, Jerry Monday, and wife, Mary of Tompkinsville, KY and Jimmy Monday, of Tompkinsville, KY;  one granddaughter, MaKayla Monday (Conner), of Bowling Green KY and one grandson, John Monday (Destiny), of Fountain Run, KY; two great grandsons and one great granddaughter.

Jr is also survived by six sisters, Darlene Monday, of Glasgow, KY; Della Johnson, of Glasgow, KY; Anita Walker (Floyd) of Glasgow, KY;  Bettie Scott (Burney), of Zionsville, IN;  Cheri Woodmansee, of Carrolton, TX; Robbie Dixon, of Nashville, TN;  two brothers, Roger Monday (Connie), of Tompkinsville, KY;  Jackie Monday (Cheryl) of Hopkinsville, KY;  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and infant sisters, Sue Kathlene, Phyllis Joyce and Linda Pearl.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 18, at 2:00 PM at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Monroe County Memorial Lawn.

Visitation is Tuesday, 1-8 PM, and Wednesday, 6:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
