GLASGOW — City residents will see a slight increase in their garbage bills beginning July 1.

Residential customers are expected to see a $2 increase while business and commercial customers will see a $4 increase. Those will roll dumpsters will also see the greater increase.

Landfill charges are expected to increase, too. All loads dumped will cost $20 at minimum, which is a 122.22 percent increase from the current $9 charge per load.

The loads headed to the landfill from residential sources will cost $2.50 per 100 pounds to dump, which is an increase from the current cost – $1.30 per 100 pounds.

Commercial and industrial customers are allowed to pay their dumping charge based upon the number of cubic yards of waste. The rate will increase to $7.20 for chipped or shredded loads and $14.40 for those that are not.

All members of the council approved the increases.
