GLASGOW — After seven months of preparation, the doors at Maple & Pine Lanes and Sports Bar will open to the public on Saturday.

The home of the former Highlander Bowl at 110 Park Avenue has undergone extensive renovation since its ownership shifted. Among the novelties inside are bowling lanes made of maple and pine wood, arcade games, finished wooden tabletops and a new enclosure, which houses a bar and eatery.

“We’re just hoping to create a place that Glasgow supports and where people can come and have a good time,” said Cavey McCoy, co-owner.

As avid bowlers, McCoy and Chad Fisher said they saw an opportunity to create a business unique to Glasgow. Their vision includes a sprawling sports bar with food, beer and games. Many of the interior design elements came from Fisher and McCoy’s wife, Angie.

The spot along Park Avenue opened as a bowling alley over 50 years ago and acquired the name Park Avenue Lanes. Highlander Bowl was the eventual identity of the establishment, and generations have come to know its significance in the section of town, which once bustled with many businesses and a pool.

The two men said ownership of the place was never in their plans, but their acquaintance with the alley goes back to their youth.

“It’s kind of cool to revive something that’s been a pretty big part of this community for a long time,” Fisher said. “To see it come back to life, I’m just really excited about.”

The targeted audience will be adults, though families are welcome. The idea behind the revitalization was to create a space for folks to enjoy various sports while having access to pub-style food and drinks.

Fisher also operates a professional bowling shop. He plans to continue those services at Maple & Pine.

The alley’s hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, according to a social media post.

“This is one of the places that used to be one of the bumping parts of Glasgow, and we want to try and return that,” McCoy said.
