Joel “Joe” Montgomery

Joel “Joe” Montgomery, 81, of Brownsville passed away at 12:45 PM July 30, 2022 at Edmonson Center.

The Adair County native was a farmer, a US Army veteran and a member of Poplar Springs United Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Rollin Hurt Montgomery and Mary Marie Dile Montgomery. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Dianna Montgomery and Vera Lee Montgomery and two sisters, Novella Sparks and Betty Dee Lowder.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Midway Cemetery. Visitation will take place 4-8 PM Wednesday and after 9:00 AM Thursday.

Surviving are a son, Joe Joe Montgomery of Grassland; five daughters, Lisa Skaggs (Dewayne) and Sharon Collins (Ray) both of Wingfield, Rosemary Montgomery of Lexington, Debbie Brooks (Jake) of Mammoth Cave and Linda Singletary (Bert) of Clarksville, TN; a sister, Mary Verma Bishop of Indiana; two grandchildren, Jessica Lyle (James) of Bowling Green and Eli Cooper Montgomery of Grassland; three great grandchildren, Lily Lyle, Jase Lyle and John Carter York; and several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
