GLASGOW — A child is dead after a truck crashed into the rear of a horse-drawn buggy Monday morning near Beckton.
The crash happened near 8104 Old Bowling Green Road/ KY 1297. Troopers with Kentucky State Police and officials with the Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded just after 8 a.m.
A preliminary investigation found Trevor N. Walker, 23, of Glasgow, was driving a 2015 GMC Sierra eastbound along the roadway. His truck struck the rear of a horse-drawn vehicle.
Ella Gingarich, 27, of Smiths Grove, and three juveniles aged 6, 3 and 1 were ejected from the buggy upon impact. All occupants were flown to Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.
The 6-year-old later died at the hospital due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Mrs. Gingarich is listed stable collision, state police said. One juvenile is in critical condition and the other was treated and released.
The investigation continues.
