GEPB customers to expect blackouts

Update: 11:50 a.m.

TVA Emergency Load Curtailment Plan Step 50 has been terminated at this time. The second rolling power outage area will not have a disruption of service as originally planned. The Glasgow EPB asks all customers to continue curtailment of nonessential energy usage (appliances, lighting, and electronics) throughout the rest of the day. Any further updates will be shared here and on GlasgowEPB.com.

Update: 11:34 a.m.

The first rolling outage is complete. The next area that will be affected includes: Trojan Trail, Wilderness Drive, Scottsville Road, Temple Trace, and S Lewis Street.

GLASGOW – The Tennessee Valley Authority has ordered all utility companies including the Glasgow Electric Plant Board, in its grid to begin rolling power blackouts.

This comes as part of the TVA’s Emergency Load Curtailment Plan. GEPB customers in the following areas will see power out for 15 minutes.

GEPB says “We apologize for this, we also ask all GEPB customers to reduce the energy usage of non-essential items (appliances, lights, electronics) during this time.”

The first outage will include: G L Comer Road, YMCA Way, E Main St. to Glasgow Bypass, Glasgow Bypass to Wall Street, Main Street to Leslie Avenue, Rogers Road, W Front Street, and Samson Street.
