Jimmie Rountree, age 65, of Northtown, passed away Friday, June 23, 2023 at his home. He was a native of Hart County and a member of Northtown United Baptist Church. Jimmie was saved at Northtown United Baptist Church when he was 9 years old. The Lord called him to preach and he went on to help many people as an Old Time Baptist Preacher. Jimmie worked on oil rigs, the railroad, farmed and logged much of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Birdie Rountree; his son, Joshua Rountree; grandson, Layton Jewell; one sister, Elinor Ann Maulden.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Darlene Rountree; two daughters, Jammie Judd (John) and Jeana Jewell; a bonus daughter, Kellie Rock (J.T.); 10 grandchildren, Jessa Richard (Eric), Ethan Dile (Leah), Jaylyn Cottrell (Calib), Krislyn Tweedy (Aaron), Trinitie, Elijah, Laira, Kaleb, Aaron, Jonah, and Olivia; a grandson he raised as his own, Kaleb Joshua; three great grandchildren and two more on the way; two brothers, Melvin Rountree (Kathy) and Mark Rountree; one sister, Vada Maulden (George).
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Northtown United Baptist Church at 1 PM with burial to follow in the Northtown United Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Winn Funeral Home from 2-7 PM and on Tuesday at Northtown United Baptist Church from 9 AM until time of service at 1 PM.
