5-1-2003 – Glasgow Loop between North 31 E and Hwy. 90 is ahead of schedule. Larry Glass Construction officials state that 66% of the project is completed.
May 1st is declared National Day of Prayer by Mayor Darrell Pickett and Barren County Judge Executive Davie Greer.
Caverna Governor’s Scholars are Lynlea Martin and Devon Bledsoe.
Lady Scottie Tara Bragg signs with St. Catherine College to play basketball.
Glasgow Musicale Breakfast is held April 19th at Glasgow Golf and Country Club. Entertainment provided by Cheryl Certain, Dorothy Stuart, Maggie Clouse, Todd and Lisa Woodward, Ricky Burch and Debbie Reece.
5-8-2003 – Kentucky exhibit is unveiled in the SCKCC. “A Stitch in Time” is the exhibit completed by a Glasgow/Barren County Chamber of Commerce Leadership group – Sonya Turner, Mike McGuire, Letitia Hughes and Tammy Groce.
Groundbreaking is held for the 8th Habitat for Humanity home to be built on Grandview Avenue.
Barrens Band will perform at a fundraiser for the Plaza Theater Revitalization May 16 at Barren River State Park.
Now open – The Broadway Cafe (Formerly the Snack Shack) at 210 Broadway in Cave City.
Open House Tuesday, May 13th 5-7 at the Glasgow Regional Center of WKU and the Glasgow Technology Center.
5-15-2003 – Kentucky Army National Guard soldiers of the 1st Battalion 623rd Field Artillery returned home Monday following demobilization after 2 months at Ft. Campbell in support of Operation Entering Freedom.
Woody Strader was honored by the Barren County Fiscal Court for his 30 years of service to the County. He retired as Barren County Road Supervisor on March 1st.
Ft. Run Barbeque Festival is set for May 16-17. It is the 15th annual event.
The annual Senior Coke Part for graduating Seniors of GHS was held last week at the First United Methodist Church.
Farmers RECC to hold annual meeting May 19th at the Cave City Convention Center.
5-22-2003 – LTC Ron Turner will address the Memorial Day Assembly on May 26th.
Winners in the Metcalfe County Nursing Home Spelling Bee were Ms. Beulah Church from Glasgow Health and Rehab, Mrs. Lottie Kinnaird from Barren County Health Care center and Mrs. Verda Gosnell from Glasgow Health and Rehab.
Terry Reed is honored by Barren County Education Association with a gift in honor of his outstanding career.
Farmers RECC selects Lindsey Berry and Cody Amos for the week long expense paid trip to Washington, D C.
Sam Norris, local geologist, was awarded the 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Kentucky Section of the American Institute of Professional Geologists.
Farmers RECC awards scholarships to Kyle Saunders, Erick Lundin, Ryan Simpson, Lindsey Tilghman, Andrea Pruitt and Kelly Headrick.
5-29-2003 – Winner of Miss Farmers RECC was Krista Keith Ennis along with Sammy Jo Monroe as 1st runner up, Chasity Nunn as 2nd runner up and Kara Brooke Harbison was Miss Congeniality.
Glasgow Highland Games will be held May 29 – June 1 with lots of activities scheduled.
Dance Classes to begin June 2 at Red Cross Elementary School. Susan Leachman is leading the social ballroom, Swing, Foxtrot, Waltz, Latin and other dances.
