William McKinley Walden (Kinnie), age 74, of Cutler Bay, Florida, died Saturday, October 28, 2023, at his home in the presence of his two sons, neighbors and friends.
Born on October 10, 1949, in Glasgow, Kentucky, he was one of four Children of the late William C. Walden and Katherin (Miller) Walden.
Kinnie graduated from Palmetto High School in Miami, Florida and then moved back to Kentucky with his parents where he began college. While attending Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, he met and married Charlene Faye Turner in 1969. After graduating from Western in 1971, he moved his family to Louisville to continue his education at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. When he graduated from dental school in 1976, he was commissioned as a
Captain in the United States Air Force. He and his wife and two sons moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he reported to Wilford Hall at Lackland AFB.
His military assignment was completed at Lackland with this retirement in March 1984. In 1985 he moved back to Miami where he began his teaching career. He taught science at Southwest High School for 30 years, retiring in June 2018.
Survivors include two sons, William Christopher, San Antonio, Texas, Bradley Clay (Renee), Minocqua, Wisconsin, Charlene Turner Walden, mother
of his children, San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren, Frances Desiray, Katherin McKinzie, Loretta Grace, William Lance, San Antonio, Texas, and Vella
Caroline and William Clay, Minocqua, Wisconsin; two brothers, Gary K. Walden (Brenda) and James F. Walden, Bowling, Green, Kentucky; special friends and
neighbors, Bobbie and Bill Martin, Cutler Bay, Florida, Rita Kaplan, Miami, Florida. Other than his parents his sister, Vella Frances Walden, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Rock Bridge Baptist Church, Brother Gary Emberton will officiate, burial will follow in the Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow.
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 10 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Yokley Tribe Funeral Home, Tompkinsville and after 9 a.m. Saturday until service time at 11 a.m. at the church.
Serving as pallbearers: Gary Walden, Phillip Walden, Andy Walden, Randy Emmert, Billy Ramsey and Ron Ramsey, Jr. Honorary pallbearer, James Walden.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Skaggs Creek Cemetery.
