Frances Jones Padgett, 93, of Bowling Green passed away November 29, 2023 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky surrounded her loving family.
The Bowling Green native was born September 26, 1930 to the late James Roland and Lillie Mae Hale Jones. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, James H. Padgett, Sr.; daughter, Beverly Pruett (the late James); brother, Jimmy Jones; and sisters, Nancy Hammonds and Pat Cowles. Frances retired as a seamstress at Union Underwear. She was a member and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. She spent her available time caring for her children and grandchildren. She and her sisters, collectively known as “The Golden Girls” loved to spend time together shopping. Frances and her husband, Jr. spent many hours fishing at their family cabin in Rochester. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother providing a caring home for many children that were not hers by blood.
Survivors include her son, James Padgett (Linda) of Bowling Green; daughter, Charlotte Sparks of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Chris Padgett (Miranda), Dale Pruett (Mandy), Mike McCoy (Cassandra), Tammy Harper (Brian), and LeAnn Brown (Adam); 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Richardson; special friends, Wanda Farmer and Jerri Lynn Fleenor; and several nieces, nephews, and other special friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel with visitation from 2 until 7 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will take place next to her husband at Fairview Cemetery.
