According to a press release from Glasgow Police Department:
On 04/02/2024 at 09:15 am, the Glasgow Police Department responded to Storage Sense on Happy Valley Road in reference to a male subject inside the office area with a firearm.
When Officers arrived on scene, they observed a female running out of the Storage Sense Building and were able to make contact with her. Officers also observed a male subject inside the office holding a firearm in his hand. The male subject was given loud verbal commands to drop the weapon and exit the building however he refused to comply.
Officers tried to negotiate with the male subject before the Barren County Tactical Team entered the building and took the male subject into custody without further incident. The firearm that the male subject had in his possession was entered as a stolen weapon.
Christopher L. Safford of Glasgow Ky. was arrested by Sgt. Mason Wethington and charged with Possession Of Handgun By Convicted Felon, Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.
The Glasgow Police Department was assisted by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Barren County Tactical Team.

Update: The individual is now is custody, with no injuries reported. They were identified as a male but no further identification has been given at this time.
Glasgow Police Department is currently on the scene, where an armed individual has barricaded themselves in an office behind Zaxby’s on Happy Valley Road.
According to GPD Major Terry Flatt the force is currently trying to negotiate with the individual but no progress has been reported.
Multiple law enforcement officers are present, with Barren County Sheriff’s Deputies assisting GPD officers.
