A husband, father, and Pa who undeniably loved Jesus and his family more than words could express.
Hugh Cyle Runner, age 80, died unexpectedly after a recent fall on April 16, 2024, at the Medical Center of Bowling Green, KY.
Hugh is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Peggy, his daughters, Tiffanie Vaught (Thomas) of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Melissa Dyer (Bryan) of Richmond, KY, and his five grandchildren Chloe Dyer, Timothy Vaught, Camille Dyer, Bethany Vaught, and Carlie Dyer. Also surviving is his sister, Donna Palmer, a nephew, Justin Palmer (Nicole) and niece Winona Eargle (Allen) and eight great nieces and nephews all from Mt Eden, KY.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Orene Runner, in-laws, Charlie and Lottie Honaker, and brother-in-law Will Palmer.
He graduated from Morehead State College with a degree in biology and a minor in Chemistry. During his career he was a schoolteacher, worked for Dow Chemical and spent the majority at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. He was very dedicated and had a strong work ethic and received some of the highest awards in the company. He also received the honor of becoming a Kentucky Colonel.
Throughout his life the two most important things were his love for the Lord and his family. He was an active member of the Church of Christ and served in several congregations. He felt that giving back to the community was important and did volunteer work. He never met a stranger and always had a joke for those that were in his presence.
Arrangements are being made at J C Kirby Funeral Home- Lovers Lane. The visitation is Saturday, April 20th, 3:00-7:00pm and Sunday beginning at 12:00pm, followed by the funeral at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Potter’s Children’s Home or the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Fund.
