KSP Pikeville Post Investigate Two Separate Fatal Collision on Wednesday, June 12

Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post was notified of a three-vehicle fatal collision in Pike County at approximately 7:14 am on Wednesday, June 12. The collision occurred on Ferrells Creek Road in the Belcher community of Pike County.

Upon arrival and through investigation, troopers discovered Jeremy Gunter was operating a 2002 Ford F150 when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2007 Ford 500 being operated by Donald Thacker. Gunter’s vehicle then collided with a 2021 Toyota RAV4, operated by Ella Taylor. Gunter and Thacker were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Taylor was pronounced deceased on scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing by KSP Accident Re-constructionist, Detective Jason Merlo. Detective Merlo was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, Elkhorn City Volunteer Fire Department, and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.

Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post investigated another fatal collision in Pike County at approximately 9:50 pm on Wednesday June 12 involving two vehicles. The collision occurred on US 460 in the Millard community of Pike County.

Upon arrival and through investigation, troopers discovered Clinton Justice was operating a 2013 Ford Edge when his vehicle struck Eric Justice while riding his bicycle. Clinton Justice fled the scene, but was located and arrested a short time later. Eric Justice was pronounced deceased on scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.

As a result of this investigation, Clinton Justice was arrested and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on the charges of Leaving Scene of an Accident, Operating Motor Vehicle under the Influence, and Vehicular Homicide when under the Influence. The investigation is ongoing by KSP Accident Re-constructionist, Trooper Matt Smith.
