Louisville Police Arrest Man for Dog Fighting

By Mark Buckles Jun 26, 2024 | 8:17 PM
Louisville Police received a very detailed tip about a man running a full-blown dog fighting ring here in Louisville. The tip was routed to our A.C.E. Unit (Animal Cruelty Enforcement). ACE works closely with Animal Control with these types of tips.
Kareem Garner (DOB 2/15/77) has been charged with four counts of Dog Fighting (each a felony) and four counts of 2nd Degree Cruelty to Animals.
The investigation indicated that Mr. Garner has been operating a dog fighting ring for a long time and he is apparently well known in the region for dog fighting.
A search warrant was executed  at his home in the 1300 block of Lillian Ave earlier this month and what was  found was disgusting.
The four dogs we seized were in terrible condition… living in feces-infested kennels or trapped in mud, leg high. Several of the pups have heartworms.  supplements and medications, weighted collars, scales, carpet mills, dog fighting paperwork, spring poles and other evidence indicative of dog fighting were recovered.
All four dogs are now at Louisville Metro Animal Services receiving care.
Kareem Garner is scheduled to appear in court on 7/12
