Today, July 11, the Glasgow Police Department will host a Car Seat Checkup event to ensure the safety of the community’s youngest passengers.
This free event will take place at the Glasgow Police Department Training Center, located at 100 Pin Oak Drive, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The primary aim of the event is to educate parents and guardians on the correct installation and usage of car seats and booster seats.
Nationally certified technicians will be on hand to provide guidance and assistance, ensuring that each car seat is installed correctly and that children are properly secured. GPD Major Terry Flatt spoke with WCLU about the checkup.
The inspection will help parents and caregivers learn how to install their child’s car seat or booster seat and determine if it’s time for a change.
This service is crucial as proper installation of car seats is essential for the safety of children in the event of a vehicle accident. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve child passenger safety in the community. Flatt went on to speak about the popularity of the event.
The event is sponsored by Team Kentucky’s Office of Highway Safety and the Glasgow Police Department, highlighting the importance of collaboration between local and state organizations to promote safety.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to ensure their car seats meet safety standards.
This proactive approach can significantly reduce the risk of injury to children in motor vehicle accidents. For more information, community members can contact the Glasgow Police Department or visit their website.
