Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 Traffic Impact Report for July 12 through July 19

The expected traffic impacts in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 area for July 12 through July 19 are listed below. All work is subject to change.

Interstate 165

  • A project to resurface and rehabilitate Interstate 165 in Butler County continues. Crews are milling and resurfacing the roadway in both directions from mile point 26.4 to mile point 32.8. Motorists should expect lane closures in this area. The speed limit will be lowered to 55 mph. Motorists should use caution as crews will be working close to the roadway. The project is expected to be completed by November 1.

Allen County

  • Old Buck Road The bridge on Old Buck Creek Road over Buck Creek (mile point 2.1) in Allen County is temporarily closed for a bridge replacement project. The new bridge is expected to open in early August. Motorists should seek an alternate route.

Barren County

  • KY 3600 Veteran’s Outer Loop (mile point 0.0 to 2.5) – A project to resurface KY 3600 from KY 1297 to U.S. 68 continues. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays.

Edmonson County

  • KY 70 (mile point 0.0 to 9.9) – A project to resurface KY 70 from the Butler County line to KY 259 is expected to continue. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays while paving is underway.

Logan County

  • U.S. 431 (mile point 24 to 26) – Motorists should expect one-lane traffic using temporary signals with 10′ width restriction for bridge deck restoration on three bridges within the mile points. The project is expected to be completed by August 1.
  • U.S. 68 (Mile point 8.8 to 10.2) – A preventative maintenance has started on U.S 68 between U.S. 68X and KY 3519 Main Street. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays during the project. Crews will be applying an application of thin overlay to the current asphalt.
  • KY 1151 (mile point 5.8) – A project to replace a culvert will temporarily close a section of KY 1151 Gordonsville Road in Logan County. The closure is expected to begin Wednesday, July 17 with the road reopening Friday, July 26. The closure will be at mile point 5.8 located just north of U.S. 68. Motorists will need to seek alternate route.

Simpson County

  • KY 1008 (mile point 0.0 to 6.5) – Crews will be prepping the road for a resurfacing project. Base failure repairs are expected to begin on Monday and last through the week. Motorists should expect lane closures and flaggers.

Todd County

  • U.S. 68X – A school safety improvement project for Todd County Middle School in the City of Elkton has started. A new left turn lane is being constructed. Motorists should expect lane closures and use caution while traveling in the area. The project is expected to be completed by the end of September.
  • KY 181 (mile point 9.5) – A project to replace a collapsed cross-drain will temporarily close KY 181 Guthrie Road in Todd County Monday, July 15. The road will close at mile point 9.5 near Georgetown Circle at 7 a.m. and will reopen at noon.

    A signed detour using KY 104 and KY 1753 will be in place.

Warren County

  • U.S. 31-W – Work on the U.S. 31-W RCUT began several days ago, and motorists will notice lane closures between Lauren Avery Drive (mile point 19) and KY 526/ Olive Road (mile point 20.4). Construction is expected to be near completion by the time school resumes in early August.

    The project at Bristow Elementary School on U.S. 31-W includes a new Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) to serve the school and surrounding neighborhoods.
