Shirley Newton Decker, age 73, of Blowtown, KY passed away Tuesday, (July 23, 2024) at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY.
She was born on February 11, 1951 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah Ellen Saltsman Newton.
Shirley worked at Phar Shar Sewing Factory for 20+ years. She also enjoyed crocheting, baking, singing gospel music, visiting the Smoky Mountains, and completing word puzzles. She loved being Mamaw to her grand kids and great-grand kids. She was a member of the Wortham Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Bennie Earl Decker of Blowtown; sons, Michael Earl Decker (Michelle) of Blowtown, James Decker (Stephanie) of Clarkson, and Jason Daniel Decker (Ann) of Blowtown; grandchildren, Courtney Decker (Morgan), Thomas Decker (Samantha), Shelby Miller (Hunter), and Sarah Decker; great-grandchildren, Collin Michael Decker and Asher Miller; sister, Linda Decker (Delbert) of Blowtown; and one sister-in-law, Wanda Newton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bud Newton.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, (July 28, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Damon Lasley and Bro. Jerry Decker will be officiating. Burial will be in the Cook Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.
