Funds are available to help teachers and “library media specialists” improve the reading skills of struggling students in Barren County from kindergarteners to third graders thanks to Reading Diagnostic and Intervention Fund mini-grants.
According to a press release from the Kentucky Department of Education, school districts must apply for these mini-grants on behalf of individual schools and the recipient must, among other specifics, “use [the] funding to purchase instructional resources to support the implementation of structured literacy practices [and] to supplement, not replace, the classroom comprehensive reading program.”
Based on information provided by the department, the recipient of the mini-grant would receive $40,000. The application can be found here.
The application deadline for these mini-grants are Nov. 26 at 3 p.m. central time.
