There’s not many days left to enter the lottery for the special cave tour at Mammoth Cave National Park commemorating the 100th anniversary of famed cave explorer Floyd Collins.

As previously reported, Collins became trapped in the unexplored Sand Cave on Jan. 30 and his attempted two-week rescue became a high-profile operation; arguably one of the first international news stories with reporters from across the country descending on the rural Kentucky region surrounding Sand Cave to cover the story.

Tickets for this commemorative tour, which will visit key locations in Collins’ life, are being distributed via a lottery system through Recreation.gov. There is a one dollar application fee to enter and the lottery closes Dec. 18 at 3 p.m. with the results released on Dec. 20.

According to the website, the tours are for ages 16 and up.
