Cecelia Kay Hurt, 85, of Edmonton, KY passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. She was born in Fairmount, IN on May 27, 1939, to the late Cecil and Wilma Thomas Dunham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years Truman Hurt in 1990 and a brother Donald D. Dunham.
Mrs. Hurt was a member of the Jesus Christ of latter-Day Saints at Sulphur Well, KY and a foster parent for over 25 years. She received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and a master’s degree from Ball State University in Education. She was a teacher in the Metcalfe County School District, a licensed real estate agent in Metcalfe County and former owner and operator of Ellen Marie’s five & dime Store in Edmonton.
Survivors include two children Lonnie Hurt of Owensboro, Ky and Lori Edmunds (Marty) of Edmonton, KY; three grandchildren Gage Edmunds, Marley Edmunds (fiancé Nick Houk), and Sawyer Edmunds; James Harley Dunham (Denise) of Summitville, IN, Darryl Dunham of Fairmount, IN, and Cynthia Pyle of Kokomo, IN; two girls she considered her daughters Tammy Johnson of Ormond Beach, FL and Denney Breeding of Swansboro, NC and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home with burial in the White Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 2:00-8:00pm and will continue Tuesday after 8:00am at Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home.
