David Eldon Thomas 62, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday January 3, 2025. He was born in Glasgow, KY on October 26, 1962, to parents, Eldon Elloyd and Mary Dodd Ellis Thomas. He was a former employee at R.R. Donnelly and Sons and was a partner in Thomas Brother’s Construction having worked in that capacity for 30 years. David was saved in July 1991 on Highway 249 just as he came off Skaggs Creek bridge after attending revival at Pleasant Point Missionary Baptist Church. He was currently a member of Pleasant Home Missionary Baptist Church; Fountain Run, Kentucky, where he served a part time song leader up until his illness prevented him from attending.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marilyn Hatcher Thomas, one brother, Kevin Thomas and wife Teresa of Austin, his mother in-law, Helen Hatcher of Glasgow, one brother-in-law Mike Hatcher and wife Teresa of Glasgow, two nephews, Will Thomas and wife Scarlett of Austin, and Alec Hatcher and wife Deserae of Glasgow, two nieces, Casey Thomas of Bowling Green, and Micah Hatcher of Glasgow, three great-nephews, Waylon Clyde Hatcher, Jasper Thomas, and Walter Tipton, two great-nieces, McKinley Thomas, and Avery Binkley.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his father in-law Clyde Hatcher.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday January 8, 2025 at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family has requested in lieu of flowers donations can be made to T.J. Samson Hospice or to the Haywood Volunteer Fire Department.
