The Cave City City Council is set to convene for its special-called session on Monday, Feb. 17, at 5 p.m. in the council chambers at city hall. The meeting will cover a range of financial updates, new business proposals, and department activity reports from the city’s fire and police chiefs. The meeting is special called because the council did not meet on its regular date on Feb. 10.
Among the key items on the agenda is a resolution opposing the state’s central collection of occupational tax, which the City of Glasgow passed at their last meeting, and another resolution opposing city employee use of medical cannabis.
The council is also expected to discuss the creation of an entertainment district, plans for lighting at the pickleball courts, and the implementation of body cameras for the police department.
Additionally, council members will review the audit for the 2023-24 fiscal year and assess surplus property considerations. Financial reports will outline the latest revenue from restaurant and transient room taxes, which totaled over $50,000 in January.
City officials and department heads, including fire chief Kevin Jandt and police chief Paul Reynolds, will provide their January activity reports, and the mayor will present additional updates before the meeting concludes.
