A social media post aiming a threat at Glasgow High School was deemed not viable by law enforcement.

Roughly an hour before the end of the school day Wednesday, high school personnel was alerted “via [their] anonymous tip line about a potential threat made…against the school.” Glasgow Police Department Captain Justin Kirkpatrick said the threatening message was sent through Discord by a student at Glasgow High School. Kirkpatrick did not disclose the male juvenile’s name.

He also said no weapons were found either on the juvenile, and Kirkpatrick said the juvenile said the message was meant “as a joke.”

“Obviously, this isn’t something we take lightly in any of our schools in our area,” Kirkpatrick said.

He confirm the individual was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening.

In a social media post to families, the high school thanked the community for their “ongoing support and dedication.”

“The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority,” the post stated.
