Glasgow High School students will be performing the musical “Newsies” at 7 p.m. this Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the school’s auditorium.
Harrison Belcher, who is playing the role of Davey, said this show is about paper boys in New York in the late 1800s who eventually go on strike.
“A bunch of teenagers decide they’re going to take on the world,” he said.
Logan South, who is playing the lead role of Jack Kelly, said his character is “kind of the leader of the newsies around lower Manhattan” and “ends up being the union leader for the strike.”
Ava Jackson said she is playing the role of Katherine, “a journalist who is trying to make her way in the world and she finds someone unexpected that she ends up falling in love with.”
Jackson said her favorite song in the production is “Once and for All.”
“It is just such a powerful song,” she said. “It gives me goosebumps every single time.”
