Several students from Barren County and Glasgow high schools recently won awards at the District 3 Beta Convention.
Barren County captured the following first place finishes: Faith Anne Campbell in Science; Elizabeth Hale, Quilling; Tinsley Neagle, Lillie Smith and Emma Smith, Small Group; and Madyson Coots, Lauren Gatewood, Kendall Esters and Becca Bartley, Musicology.
Glasgow won the following first place awards: Avrie Thomas in Speech; Tre Bullock, Biomedical; Ann Hughes, Spelling; and Rudra Chaudhary, Social Studies.
Becca Bartley, of Barren County, was named the president of the district while Glasgow’s Cassandra Gracia was selected as treasurer.
Barren County also received the following individual awards: Kennedy Middleton, second place in Digitally Enhanced Photography; Abby Carter, second, Solo; Karden Kinslow, second, Woodworking; Faith Ann Campbell, second, Fiber Arts; Lillie Smith, second place, Quilling; Elizabeth Hale, third, Biomedical; Lauren Gatewood, third, Digitally Enhanced Photography; Kolton Esters, third, Mixed Media; Emma Smith also received a $500 scholarship.
Glasgow was also second in Sweepstakes as well as the following individual awards: Danica Stephens, second place, Creative Writing; Steven Garrett, second, Science; Ellie Ball, second, Painting; Noelle Durbin, third, French; Mattie Price, third, Recyclable Art; Gage Oakes, third, Math; and Meghan Griffin, third, Social Studies.
