RECAP: Trojanettes pummel Russellville, 16-2

Barren County improved to 2-1 with live bats against Russellville. The Trojanettes pounded out 16 runs to beat the Lady Panthers, 16-2.

Katie Elmore posted a perfect day at the plate. She had four hits in four at-bats, scored four runs and drove in a run. Abby Elmore was 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs, and two RBIs. Norah Shirley drove in five runs on two hits. She, Abby Elmore and Briley Aidala each hit a home run in the game.

Shea Bogue pitched two innings and struck out four, while Adley Cunningham pitched three innings and struck out three batters.

Barren County took control of the game in the top of the first inning with five runs. Katie Elmore led off with a double, and Abby Elmore followed with a single.

After an out, the runs started. Aidala drove in Katie Elmore with a single. Audrey Jones entered to run for Aidala. Lizzie Smith followed and hit into a fielder’s choice that scored Abby Elmore and moved Jones to third.

After another out, the Trojanettes tacked on three more runs. Josey Moore drove in Smith and Jones with a single to center field. Then Bogue drove in Moore with a single.

Barren posted three more runs in the top of the second inning, four in the top of the third and four in the top of the fifth.

The Trojanettes posted 15 total hits in the game.
