Barren County Schools Assistant Superintendent Cortni Crews received the 2025 Magnolia Award, an annual recognition that honors female community members who demonstrate excellence.

In a March 25 livestream, Barren Inc. surprised Crews at the school district’s central office, which was filled by district personnel, department heads, family and friends. Newly sworn-in chairperson Nicole Randall said Crews embodied the goals of a Magnolia Award recipient through her “unwavering dedication to education, mentorship and community.”

“As assistant superintendent for Barren County Schools, she guides a district with over 5,000 students — not through policy and leadership but through personal connections that make every student feel valued,” Randall said. “She has an unparalleled ability to see beyond the surface.”

“A leader, a mentor, and advocate, Cortni’s impact is immeasurable making her a truly deserving recipient,” she added.

The Small Business Person of the Year will be announced March 27 at the chamber’s news conference at the Boys and Girls Club along with the Small Business of the Year, Farmer of the Year and Administrative Professional of the Year award recipients. The Small Business Person of the Year recipient and Crews will serve as the keynote speakers at the chamber’s Achievement in Business Awards luncheon on May 8.

“Thank you,” Crews said. “I’m honored and humbled by this award.”
