Shea Bogue controlled the game from circle Tuesday as Barren County beat Glasgow, 10-0, in a 15th District softball showdown.
Bogue struck out 10 Lady Scotties, but it wasn’t a perfect performance. Glasgow had two base runners in the game. Raygan Wyatt was hit by a pitch in the top of the third inning. She stole second before a strike out and a ground out ended the threat.
In the top of the fifth, Paige de Haas hit a pop fly in the infield and the ball tipped off Bogue’s glove. De Haas reached first safely and Jenna Glass entered to run for her. Glass stole second with two outs, but Bogue ended the game with her tenth strike out.
The Trojanettes took the lead for good in the bottom of the second inning.
Lizzie Smith and Josey Moore each drew a walk to start the inning. Gracie Myatt loaded the bases with a single to center field. Bogue followed with a single to center that drove in Smith and Josey Moore, and moved Hadley Elkins, who was running for Myatt, to third.
Kyra Moore followed with a ground ball that was misplayed that allowed Elkins and Lily Elmore to score. Elmore was running for Bogue.
Kyra Moore later scored on a pass ball.
Barren added three more runs in the third, and two in the fourth to set up the 10-run rule win after four and a half innings.
Along with her dominance in the circle, Bogue drove in four runs on two hits. Smith slapped a solo home run, while Shirley, Aidala, Myatt and Josey Moore each also had a hit in the game.
Ayvah Maxey suffered the loss in the circle for Glasgow. She pitched three innings and gave up seven hits. Kerigan Hagan pitched one inning and struck out one batter.
The Trojanettes improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in district, while the Lady Scotties fell to 0-4 and 0-1.
Glasgow returns to action Thursday at 5:30 p.m. against district foe Allen County-Scottsville. It is the Lady Scotties’ first home game of the season.
Barren County hosts Greenwood on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
