Daniel (Dan) Leon Mosier

Daniel (Dan) Leon Mosier, 64, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on March 25, 2025 in Bowling Green, KY. Born on February 17, 1961 in Corning, IA to the Richard Mosier and the late Janet (Hunter) Mosier.

Dan was a graduate of Griswold High School in Griswold, IA where he was a quadruple-sport athlete playing football, track and field, basketball, and baseball. He was also a scholar and maintained a 4.0 GPA all throughout high school and college. The biggest love of his life outside of his family was the game of baseball. He played at Indian Hills Community College and University of Nebraska-Omaha each for a year before moving to Bowling Green to finish his career at Western Kentucky University. He would then go on to be a graduate assistant then eventually an assistant coach until his departure in 2005. He spent the next 11 years coaching at Bowling Green High School where he also taught U.S. and World History until his retirement in 2016. Dan mentored hundreds of players who praised him for his wisdom and knowledge for the game and in life. He was also a devoted husband of 27 years and father who enjoyed watching his children excel on the soccer field and in the classroom.

Dan is survived by his wife Anne Mosier, his two children Makayla and Jacob, and their beloved cocker spaniel, Remy Socks. He is also survived by his father, Richard (Claudia) Mosier, his brother, Jon Mosier, and his brother-in-law, John Hoffmeister, all of Lewis, IA; his two nephews, Lucas (Ashley) Mosier, of Atlantic, IA, and Tyler (Taylor) Mosier, of Ankeny, IA; and his five great-nieces and nephews, Reid, Jade, Grace, Parker, and Beckett, and a multitude of cousins. On his wife’s side, he is survived by 10 sister and brother-in laws and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Janet (Hunter) Mosier, his sister JoAnn (Mosier) Hoffmeister, and his mother-in-law, Ruth Gormley.

Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, in Bowling Green, KY. Visitation will be from 9:00am-12:00 noon at the funeral home. Pastor Steve Hussung will preside over the service.
