An architecture and design contract and a lease agreement are the key items on the April 1 Barren County Fiscal Court agenda.
The meeting will convene at 9 a.m. in the court chambers on the third floor of the Barren County Government Center and the Agriculture Exposition Center contract with Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects is up for approval. Barren County Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd said the contract is to “finish all renderings and architect plans, and prepare the construction bid packet” at a cost of $400,000.
The contract lists the “budget for the cost of work,” design phase, construction commencement date and “substantial completion date” as “to be determined.” With Hart County’s support, Byrd said previously, the center qualified as a multi-county project and therefore qualified for the $1 million set aside by the State Senate and House to “get the project going.”
Also on the agenda is the previously discussed lease agreement of the Barren County Government Center second floor to the Commonwealth’s Attorney. At the March 19 Building and Property Committee, the three magistrates on the committee approved J and K Construction to begin work “remov[ing] a wall and add a few doors.”
The rent on the entire second floor would be roughly $1 a square foot which, according to the lease agreement, equates to $14,865 payable quarterly with 15 undesignated parking spaces.
