Jerry Pritchard Greer, 86, of Glasgow, Kentucky, died peacefully early Sunday, March 30, 2025, at TJ Samson Community Hospital. His passion for hard work left a lasting impact on all of those around him.
Born on July 31, 1938 at TJ Samson Hospital to the late Leo and Pearl Pritchard Greer. A Glasgow High School graduate from the class of 1956. After graduation, he began working at DR Browning Drilling Company and joined the Army National Guard in 1960. In the late 60’s, he began working with his father at Greer’s Auto Sales as a mechanic before opening Greer’s Auto Service in 1974 where he continued to work daily until his death.
On February 14, 1960, he married the love of his life, Davie Duvall Greer. They were married 65 years. He was survived by his two daughters and son-in-laws, Julie and Randy Edwards and Cathy and Dick Doty; an honorary son, James and Megan Smith; Four grandchildren, Courtney (John) Benefield, Catherine (Tyler) Hughes, Dylan (Natalie) Doty, and Trey Doty; Two honorary grandchildren, Lillie and Ellie Smith; Eight great-grandchildren: Greer, John Paul and Grayson Benefield; Griffin, Marleigh Pearl and Hadley Hughes, William and Leo Doty; brother-in-law, Paul Edward; and sister-in-law, Sherrlyn Duvall. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, Paul and Alma Duvall, and a great-granddaughter, Riley Anne Hughes.
Jerry was a faithful member of the Glasgow First United Methodist Church. He served as a Board Member of the Haywood Volunteer Fire Department and helped to organize the Cruise in Glasgow Car Show. Jerry was the self-proclaimed Mayor of Pritchardsville, and on Saturdays he could be found working at the farm before taking his boys to lunch at Dairy Queen. His interests included mowing, listening to the scanner, antique cars and Nascar. Whether facing challenges or celebrating successes, he put his heart into the work, leaving behind a legacy of perseverance and dedication that will not be forgotten.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 and then continue on Thursday, April 3, from 10:00 until the time of service at 2:00. Both visitation and the funeral will be held at Glasgow First United Methodist Church, 500 South Green Street, Glasgow. Funeral services are under the direction of A.F. Crow and Sons Funeral Home.
