RECAP: Trojans down Dunbar, 6-4

Barren County used two 3-run innings to down Paul Laurence Dunbar, 6-4, in Tampa, Florida.

After the Bulldogs scored a run in the top of the first, the Trojans responded with three in the bottom of the inning.

JP Hyde drew a walk to lead off the Barren’s at-bat. He took second on an error, and third on a wild pitch. Jackson Reece drove in JP Hyde with a ground out to second.

Sutton Hyde and Axel Dysholm drew consecutive walks to put runners at first and second. They then each stole a base to get into scoring position. Sutton Hyde eventually scored on a wild pitch before Gavin Coffey drove in Dysholm with a single.

Dunbar scored a run in the top of the fourth, but Barren responded with its second 3-run inning.

With one out, Price Thompson reached base on an error. Jordan Harris drew a walk, then Jax Vincent loaded the bases with a single.

Thompson scored from third on a wild pitch before JP Hyde drove in both Harris and Vincent with a single to give the Trojans a 6-2 lead.

JP Hyde, Sutton Hyde, Dysholm, Coffey and Vincent each had a hit for Barren. JP Hyde drove in two runs.

Skylar Potter started on the mound, allowed four hits and struck out five. Sutton Hyde closed the final two innings, allowed one hit and struck out four.
