Barren County’s hots bats propelled it to a 10-2 win over Franklin-Simpson.
The Wildcats took the early lead in the top of the first inning, 1-0. The Trojans responded in the bottom of the first.
Jackson Reece led off with a single, followed by a two-run homer from Sutton Hyde to give Barren the lead for good.
The Trojans added a run in the bottom of the second inning. Aiden Keeney hit a one-out double. Landon Uhles entered to run for Keeney. He eventually scored when Cameron Crawford was thrown out stealing second.
Barren added its fourth run of the game in the bottom of the fourth. Skylar Potter reached base on an error. He moved to second on a ground out by Jacob Spence, and later scored on a double by Keeney.
The Trojans salted the game away with three more runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Jax Vincent led off with a double. He moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Reece. Vincent scored on a passed ball during Sutton Hydes at bat. Jordan Harris followed with a single, and scored on a two-run homer by Axel Dysholm.
Barren closed out its scoring in the bottom of the sixth.
Spence opened with a single, and moved to second when Gavin Coffey drew a walk. Then, with two outs, Reece drove in Cameron Crawford — running for Coffey — and Spence. Reece later scored on a triple by Sutton Hyde.
Hyde, Reece, Dysholm, and Keeney each had two hits. Vincent, Spence, and Harris each had one hit.
Crawford started on the mound. He allowed six hits and struck out four. Potter closed and allowed three hits and struck out three.
