Barren County held off East Jessamine in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., 3-2. It was the Trojanettes’ third win on their spring break tour.
Barren took the lead for good in the bottom of the first inning with three runs. With one out, Gracie Myatt reached base on an error. She scored on a two-run homer by Norah Shirley.
Lizzie Smith followed with a triple. Briley Aidala drew a walk, and Audrey Jones entered to run for her. Jones stole second, and Smith scored by stealing home.
The Trojanettes pushed runners to third base in several innings, but could get no one else home.
East Jessamine scored a run in the top of the fifth on an error, and added its second run in the top of the sixth with an inside-the-park home run.
Shea Bogue ended the game in the top of the seventh by striking out East’s final batter.
Bogue went the distance in the circle, struck out six and allowed four hits.
Shirley led at the plate with three hits, while Myatt and Smith each added two hits. Lily Elmore and Josey Moore each posted a hit.
