The Boys and Girls Club of Glasgow-Barren County will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on April 17 “to really show what’s going on at the Boys and Girls Club.”
The club has been in its new building at 701 Columbia Avenue roughly a year, having moved there in February 2024 after numerous construction delays and relocations. A white sign names the building the Craft Innovation Campus, which signifies former U.S. Ambassador Kelly Craft, who donated the funds needed to purchase the old bank building.
Director of Operations Wade Copas said Craft along with her husband, Joe Craft, will be in attendance as well as a “special guests,” which the club revealed will be UK men’s basketball coach Mark Pope, Lee Ann Pope and UK players.
Copas said the open house is what he is most excited about where some of the kids will show “everything cool” they have been working on.
“It should be a lot of fun,” Copas said. “I’m excited to do this. We’re going to let the kids talk to everyone and tell their story and what they’re working on at the club at the moment. We get to show off some of our new equipment that we’ve got [and] a lot of fun stuff that you might not think of when you think Boys and Girls Club.”
The event will be open to the community, promising “a day of inspiration, celebration, food, fun and community.”
It will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Craft Innovation Campus.
“We’re excited, not only for us but for our community and our members too,” he added.
