2-7-2013 – Mark Wallace is named Assistant Superintendent of Barren County Schools.

 

Hiseville receives funding for a new Volunteer Fire Department.

 

Glasgow/Barren County Chamber of Commerce Banquet is held and names Square Deal as Small Business of the year, Kristen Turner named Volunteer of the Year,  David Birge Farmer of the Year, and Tommie St. Charles Birge as Administrative Professional of the Year.

 

“Moon Over Buffalo” to be staged at the Plaza February 22, 23, and 24th.

 

32 students make up the Basketball Homecoming Court at GHS  on Friday night when Glasgow hosts the Caverna Colonels in a double header.

 

2-14-2013 – Former Glasgow Mayor Robert A Lessenberry was one of WKU’s selected speakers for the WKU-Glasgow Campus’ 25th anniversary kickoff celebration this week.

 

Glasgow City Council finds new home for Police Department at the Venture Contracting property at 100 S. Broadway.

 

Air Force Airman Terry M Bacon Jr., graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is a 2012 BCHS graduate.

 

GHS Class of 1967 met for lunch  and a tour of the new GHS.

 GHS Homecoming Queen is Kelsey Greer and the King is Jerry Bowles.

 

2-21-2013 – Black History in the Barrens is shared by William and Lou Twyman in honor of Black History Month.

 

Caverna Homecoming Queen is Reagan Kingrey.

 

Glenview Health Care Valentine Royalty is King and Queen, Lawrence Mathis and Cora Law. Prince and Princess is Clarence Scott and Haley Thrasher.

 

2-28-2013 – Governor Steven Beshear appoints two Glasgow residents to boards. Phillip W bale to WKU Regent Board and John R Rigney to the Ky. Board of Licensed Professional Counselors.

 

WKU honors Barren County native, Wes Strader in “Hilltopper Halls of History”.

 

Kentucky Repertory Theatre closes its doors, dims lights after 36 years.

 

Cynthia York is named Director of Special Programs for Barren County Schools.

 

Ally Davis, BCHS, signs a letter of intent to run track and cross country at Lindsey Wilson.

 

Barren County Trojans are the 15th District Champs.

 Lady Scotties win the 15th District.

 Caverna Colonels and Lady Colonels are runners up in the 18th District and headed for 5th region tournament.
