11-7-2013 – Ret. Col. James M Drake will be the keynote speaker for Sunday’s Veterans Day Dinner.

Helen Simpson, well known quilt maker, has donated a full queen size quilt to Children of the American Revolution to help them raise funds for scholarships.

Local ribbon cuttings – Sanders at 242 Nobob Road, specializing in seed and crop practice, Shabby Chic at 1425 Burkesville Road and Barren Outdoors in the old Bolton’s Landing building on Scottsville Road.

Temple Hill Class of 1973 held their 40th reunion October 12th.

11-14-2013 – Winners of the Halloween Costume Contest at Barren County Health Center were Iris Nuckols, Kathleen Jessie and Joyce Steenbergen.

Goodman Automotive Players of the week were Barren County – Calvin Richardson and Glasgow – Micah Castanon.

Congressman Brett Guthrie visits Highland Elementary School.

Barren County Veterans were honored in the county schools,  Highland, Hiseville, North Jackson, Barren County Middle School, Temple Hill, Park City and Red Cross.

Veteran Barren County Magistrate Tommy Matthews announces that he will not seek re-election to that office – after serving more than two decades.

11-21-2013 – John Wood Day is proclaimed in Barren County – “Portrait of an American Patriot”, was the title of the article honoring him.

2nd Annual Children’s Day Celebration will be November 20th at the Plaza.

Sustainable Glasgow to present The Midnight Special Tribute at the Plaza November 29th.

Community Thanksgiving Service will be November 24th at 4 p.m at the First United Methodist Church.

3 GHS Scotties sign to play college sports – Shalika Smith – WKU Basketball; Emily Alexander – WKU Golf; and Taylor Phelps – Campbellsville University Golf.
