The Turkey Neck Bend Ferry on KY 214 at the Cumberland River in Monroe County is expected to be temporarily taken out of service for its annual inspection. The closure is expected to begin at noon on Friday, June 14 with the ferry reopening on Tuesday, June 25 at 6 a.m.
The inspection is required annually every five years and is done by the U.S. Coast Guard. The barge is pulled out of the water, pressured washed, sandblasted, and inspected.
A detour utilizing KY 100, KY 90 and KY 61 will be in place. Motorists should plan ahead as the detour will add significant travel time. Message boards will be in place and additional signage.
