Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 has continued the investigation into a shooting that occurred in Trigg County on July 20, 2024.
The deceased has been identified as Austin Gardner, 25 years old of Cadiz, who entered the residence of Cody Parker, 21 years old of Cadiz.

Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 1 was notified shortly after midnight of a shooting incident that had occurred at a residence in Trigg County. KSP was requested by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the incident.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a male subject entered a residence on Linda Lane, armed with a weapon. Upon forcing his way into a room in the residence, the male was shot by the homeowner. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This has been determined to be an isolated incident and there is not believed to be any danger to the public related to this incident.
No further details will be released at this time. The investigation remains ongoing by Detective Nate Moore.
